Information we process
When you start a sponsorship, we process the brand name, website, tagline, logo path, and contact email you provide. Stripe processes payment details; OwnTheCity does not store card numbers.
Public sponsorship data
A successful sponsor’s name, normalized domain, website, tagline, logo, property ownership, and sponsorship amount are public. Ownership history remains public so city positions can be independently understood.
First-party analytics
We record daily city visits, object interactions, checkout starts, successful takeovers, and outbound sponsor clicks. Visitor network addresses are HMAC-hashed before storage for rate limiting and daily visit deduplication. We do not use third-party analytics scripts.
Retention and security
Financial and ownership history is retained to preserve the public record and for accounting. Service credentials are server-only. Uploaded logos are validated and re-encoded server-side before public display.
